The brain is marvelously dangerous

Unfortunately, what I’d like to talk about is not interesting enough for most people. It’s considered too painful, or too difficult to understand, or to deep. After all, how many people in this entire world, are truly and genuinely from their heart, interested in the genuine love of all humanity? Not just hand-pick your own loved ones, but everyone in the world? How many of you realize just how one we truly are? We could be on the opposite sides of the planet, and can still be one. This is not easy to understand when we are so busy working, so busy looking after our families, so busy trying to find time to relax, and find time for joy, or pleasure or watching online movies! It is very difficult to “think” about it because thought is the problem in itself.

So few of us realize that we, in the here and the now, are a product of our accumulate past. We are made up of memories that are images, emotions, experiences, things that are not even of our creation, such as parts of history, things people have told us, history we have learned, physics theories, principles.. And these were given to us by our society, teachers, schools, our parents, religions, traditions, etc. We have copied what we like and not like from all of these places. We copy our role model’s emotional reactions to what they think is good, or not good, particularly from our parents. If our parents and the people around us are afraid of death, we learn this too. We learn about their anxieties about sickness, their attitudes towards other people and how they approach diversity, equalities, biases, etc. We watch what they do and as children, we learn by watching, through modeling.

We have progressed so little, psychologically, that we continue to have conflict, wars, battles, arguments, we have discrimination in the world, we have racism. We are still divided by countries, borders, policies. We are always in conflict, always in competition. We even have fun with competition. We have the Olympics and the European Championship Cup. We make competition and conflict seem like entertainment. We make it difficult to draw the line between the serious and not serious, such as computer games where we blow each other up. Yet, all of us seek happiness, joy, a pain-free life. We have been looking for this, and getting reassurance of this always from the outside. It’s always been the outer. All the answers we seek, we seek in the outer. All the changes we think we need to make, are in the outer. Haven’t we not learned this from history? All the thought processes, all the memories, everything that has created problems in the first place, is created by thought. So if thought has created everything in this world, then where does freedom lie, because we are caught up in thought. Thought creates marvelous things but it also creates wars, and division. No has even come close to understanding the capacity of the brain and how it works. Sure we discover new theories every day, but for us to realize how dangerously amazing the brain is, is again difficult to comprehend. When we approach a solution with the same thought pattern that created the problem in the first place, we are always going to have division. We are always going to have conflict. We are always going to have corruption.

Can we be, truly free, without all of the downloaded images and beliefs of who we "think" we are? The person sitting next to you - perhaps you are sitting besides your brother or sister, mother or father. None of us need to be identified by any name. If we can profoundly think about this, can we look at each other without any of those already-downloaded beliefs and images coming into thought at the moment we meet? Can we look at every mundane, routine activity with a fresh set of eyes - as if we see them for the very first time, even though we have interacted with them thousands of times before. If we can see them for the first time as we did when we were so wonderous about the world, about people, about animals, about nature? Can you?

Love and light,

GC
