Every employee wants to feel cared for at work. Companies need only one value to support their mission and vision: LOVE. How can we create more compassionate workplaces?
Life happens on the other side of no. At least it has in my experience. Every single time I’ve shared my dream with someone, or an aspiration that I had, they’ve always given me an excuse to say “no”. It’s especially alarming when it comes from someone I love. That’s when I know I have to say YES! I have the history to prove it!

Initially, the cliche advice of “stay away from people that annoy you” came to mind. But as I look back, those annoyances never really went away: they re-invented themselves through other people or in other environments at a later time…
If you know me, you’ll know just how much I talk about the importance of hugging. Now, in this era of what people call, “the new normal”, hugging is fast becoming a taboo. Something that is forbidden out of fear you will spread the disease or catch something nasty. What is a year of practicing distancing really doing to our human nature as people?

Compliment someone for work they have done - it’s a tough time and it sometimes takes a lot of extra energy to do things. Never take anything anyone does for granted. Make them feel appreciated.

If someone is struggling with their work, please reassure them, not downgrade them. Positive reinforcement will go along way to build people’s confidence. Offer help and point
When I left my job in 2017, nothing could prepare me for the economic difficulty that I was about to face. My employee benefits ran-out after six months, a family to support, a mortgage, a car loan, school fees, etc.

DON’T BE AFRAID to spend money that enriches your life experience
October 1st, 2020. I sat at my PC, logged-in at the usual time. Ready to work on a long “laundry” list of tasks that had been accumulating over time. Zoom meetings, replying to emails… nothing unusual. By the time midday came, I realized I had accomplished very little compared to what I could accomplish a month earlier. Furthermore, that list kept on getting longer and it included things to do both for work and at home. I had a similar feeling yesterday, and the day before and the day before that.
Why do we want to do that to ourselves? We deserve a much happier life and we can create a much more positive future.
